It was a long day again out on the water, but this time in good breeze. The fleet completed three races in shifty 10-12 kts N wind. There were temporary lulls of 5-6 kts and fresh 15-16 kts periods as well. Racing was really tactical today, reading the shifts was key to earn low scores. The fleet was super tight with close battles all around the racecourse.

Thursday’s forecast was not promising at all, however the fleet managed to complete one race in light to super light conditions in the afternoon. The race committee did their best adjusting the course to the changing conditions applying almost all of the code flags and marks onboard.

Today’s story is unfortunately rather short and only about the girls. The eastern wind filled in nicely and racing got under way with the girls starting first this time. After the start of the second Boys group however, the wind dropped and shifted to the South. The race committe reacted quickly and shortened the course for the Girls. They managed to finish their races, while it was cancelled for the Boys.

One race was completed for all groups today, but it was not as simple as it sounds. The local eastern thermal wind filled in for the time of the 10 am start at 7 knots and it began to fade away around noon which is typical behaviour. This kind of wind blows in the morning and usually dies in the afternoon on a fair summer day.

The heavy air of yesterday was gone and a nice 10 kts NW breeze welcomed the fleet this morning. After all groups finished the first race the wind started to die and shift to the South. Finally it settled in a SW direction at 5-7 knots which was suitable to complete the second race.

Two races were sailed on the final day of the 2013 Choco Cup. The first one began in a nice 10–12 kts wind from NW, but it got very light for the last upwind leg. After both groups finished their races the fleet had to wait about an hour to start the final race. Luckily the wind settled and the two groups managed to get away under black flag on first attempt. We had a nice lightwind series with plenty of sun and chocolates.
